Manifesting, the act of “focusing on what you desire, and attracting it through what you think, say, and do” (Psychology Today) is all the rage. Less interested in if it works, manifesting is more about how it makes you feel. If feeling your way to becoming a millionaire isn’t the thing for you - there’s a very cool, very easy and more effective approach. And it still feels a bit like daydreaming.

Biggest whoa moment: That this actually works. Gabriele Oettingen, a psychology professor at NYU developed a sleek tool based on twenty years of research in the science of motivation. It seems so simple.

Put it into practice now: WOOP is made up of four seemingly simple steps that should be followed in their exact order: Wish, Outcome, Obstacle, Plan. First, you think deeply about your desire. Next, the outcome as it would be when the desire came true. Then, you consider all the obstacles that could keep you from the desire. Lastly, you put together the plan on how to battle those obstacles. They even walk you through it on their website!

And that’s it. It’s as simple as five to ten minutes of sitting still, thinking, dreaming and planning.
